to St. Joseph, Michigan, where he attended a parochial school. He worked
for some time in a knitting mill in St. Joseph. The family next moved to
Tigerton, Wisconsin, and while his home was there he spent three years
working as a teamster in a lumber camp. At the age of 22 he began to learn
the carpenter trade. Later he accepted a position as foreman for Tom
Solar, a Green Bay contractor. In 1907 he entered into a partnership with
his brother, G. A. Krasin, architect, to conduct a building contracting
business in Tigerton. Two years later they moved their business to this
city.
Mr. Krasin was married at Athens to Miss Hattie Brantz September 1,
1909. They have two sons and three daughters: Viola and Lambert,
students of the McKinley High School; Lyle, a student at Immanuel
Lutheran School; Ruth, a pupil in the Jefferson School; and Corrine, at
home.
He is treasurer of the Marshfield Poultry Association. Politically, he is
Independent. His hobbies are chicken raising and the radio.

G. A. Krasin
Architect and Contractor
G. A. Krasin was born in Volynia, Russia, January 9, 1885. When he was
seven years of age the family immigrated to the United States and settled
in southern AR, later moving to southern Michigan and then to
Tigerton, Wisconsin. It was in the Lutheran parochial schools of those
three states that Mr. Krasin received his elementary education. When he
was 19 years old he left the home farm to follow the carpenter trade. From
correspondences courses he acquired his first knowledge of architecture
and in 1907, in partnership with his brother, J. F. Krasin, he established
the firm of Krasin Brothers at Tigerton, Wisconsin. In 1909 the brothers
moved the location of their business to Marshfield.
Mr. Krasin was married at Norre, Wisconsin, November 10, 1909 to Miss Elsa
Fremming. The family includes two sons, who are Lawrence, a student at
Northwestern College, Watertown, Wisconsin and Karlton, a Marshfield high
school student.
Mr. Krasin is a member of the Master Buildings Association and is

Are Amalie and Samuel are twins ? And two different birthplaces? Marriage record
Amalie RADKE/Samuel BUSSE, Film 2380026, KB Rozyszcze, Heiraten 1870, Nr. 9.
Date of marriage = Januar 14, 1870
Amalie was 20 years old (in Jan. 1870) = her birthdate was in Jan. 1850 or in 1849 in Poland -
perhaps illegitimate ? And Samuel * at the end of 1850 in Volhynia ?
My note:
I dont think they are twins. I took Amalie's birth date from the marriage record you have.
I took that information about Samuel from his 1865 Confirmation Record page 23.
Being 15 years old at confirmation is not usual. So perhaps he was actually 14 - a more usual age.
Then the dates would be better. So I now report the adjusted date of 1851,

ATHILDA KRASIN:Walter Natho on the Krassin Family
Bill Lehman (Aunt Carrie's son) and I talked over the Krasin family history when he and his wife visited here last spring to see what we could remember.
Mother's maiden name was Mathilda Krasin. The Krasin's lived near Greenwaldt about thirty miles south of Kiev in the Ukraine in Russia. They were German farmers, I suppose. Mama was born there in 1876. This part of Russia changed hands a number of times, back and forth between Russia and Germany, and maybe-other nations. The Germans that lived there were not permitted to leave there after Russia took over. Finally after years Russia agreed to let them immigrate to North America. Thad to get a sponsor who would also furnish money for the trip here because Russia would keep everything they owned, even most of their clothing.
This was after the civil war near 1890. Laborers were needed and plantation owners wanted sharecroppers. I do not remember if mama told me who sponsored the Krasin's, or maybe I just forgot. Many were sponsored by relatives, factories, contractors, etc. The sponsors had a mortgage on their earnings until they got their money back, and before they could move to other parts of the U.S. I believe Mr. C. L. Jones must have sponsored some families, because once while I was doing some work for him he told me that he never lost a cent on any of these people, and I did not think to ask him who some of them were.
The Krasin's had nine children: Uncle Godfried (Fred), Aunt Caroline (Carrie), Uncle Gottlieb, Uncle Jacob (Jake), Uncle Gustave (Gus), Aunt Lena, Aunt Bertha Mathilda (Tillie), Uncle William (Bill). There were three older and five younger than mom.
Most of the families that moved here did not like it here so when they had their sponsors paid off they left.
The Krasin's and Uncle Julius and Aunt Carrie moved to St. Joseph, Michigan. They did not like it there either so they moved to Tigerton, Wisconsin. Uncle Fred and mother did not go with them. Mom had a job cooking at the Champion Hotel and Uncle Fred was working for Herman Quandt. Later mom married John Natho. I (Walter) was born May 30, 1898.
The Krasin's did not have enough money to come over first class, so they came on a cattle boat in the part they called the steerage because the fare was the least. I do not remember if they came on a Sailboat or Steamboat. It took either the Rooks 3 or 6 months to come over, or the Krasin's 3 or 6 months. I can't remember which. Mama said they slept very little. They had little bedding so they took turn about. They slept on the floor.
The Krasin's settled a little over a quarter mile north of where the Hudson cottongin used to stand about one mile north of AR Post. Their home was a small frame house. I do not remember what year it burned. It was still there in 1929. Aunt Lena, Hattie, and Aunt Carrie were here visiting Thanksgiving 1929, and we took them down to show them the old place.
Uncle Julius and Aunt Carrie lived near the Goff Bridge on the eastside of Pinchgut bayou. Mom and dad lived with Grandpa and Grandma Rook until Grandpa Rook died in 1917. I do not remember what year Grandma Rook died.
Dad's health was bad so they moved from the farm to Gillett in 1903. They bought the Deal General Merchandise store at the east-end of Main Street. In 1904 they built the brick store building that is now the post office and apartments. When they moved to Gillett they rented until they had the house finished that is now the Crawford Hunting Club, Wilbur Wallace caretaker. The old farm home is now the Rowlette Wolfe (Squirrelly) place. Uncle Fred stayed here for a while and then went on to Wisconsin. He came back for a visit about 1910 and stayed for about a month or two. He borrowed the horse and buggy a number of times to go to the Quandt's. Not long after he left we heard that he and Miss Quandt got married. I can't remember whether her name was Maude or Lula Quandt. They moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico. Later they moved to Amarillo, Texas where he died about 1960. The youngest, Uncle Bill died about a year or two ago in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Mama was born on 5/26/1876 and died 9/9/1951. Dad was born in Danville, Illinois on 5/8/1871 and died 4/16/1938.
Mama worked for Sam Moll, and other people in Stuttgart, also for some rich Jews in Wynne, AR.

Wilhelm Krasin was born in Volynia, Russia, March 2, 1892. His parents
moved to the United States when he was an infant and settled on a farm
near Gillett, AR; four years later they moved to St. Joseph,

the family moved to a farm near Tigerton, Shawano County, Wisconsin, where
he attended a district and parochial school until his 14th year, following
which, except for a few months spent in a railroad building camp near
Pekin, Illinois, he worked on farms until he was 24 years old, when he
took up carpenter work with a barn builder and continued with him until he
accepted a job with his brothers, in this city. After working for them
several years he entered the employ of Oppenhammer and Obel of Wausau,
architects and engineers, as a draughtsman and construction
superintendent. A year later he re-entered employ of the Krasin Brothers
