Generation No. 4

4. MARTIN4 BUSSE (JOHAN MARTIN3, DANIEL2, MARTIN1) was born 1733 in Kowanowo, Kreis Obornik (see important note)6, and died September 12, 1812 in Ostrowek, Mrotschen, Kreis Wirsitz, West Prussia7. He married HELENA (ELNOR) REMUS Bef. 1776, daughter of LORENZ REMUS and MARIANNA WENSKI. She was born March 18, 1759 in Lukowo, Kreis Flatow, West Prussia8,9, and died January 06, 1832 in Slupowo, Mrotschen, Kreis Wirsitz, West Prussia10.

Notes for MARTIN BUSSE:

This is Martin Busse shown on page 68 of DGB Band 23. Martin was born in 1733 and had four wives according to DGB, the fourth of which was Helena Remus; his parents were Johan Martin Busse (b 1699) and Anna Sonneburg. He resided in Ostrowke by Mrotschen (then a Vorwerk of Vandsburg) where he was a gutsbesitzer (lived in an estate house), Martin and Helena's son Martin is shown on the next page in DGB as marrying Emilie Mittelstadt - they resided in Gnesen.

There appear to be children errors on page 68 of DGB Band 23 as Martin's son Martin is listed as have Juliana Ardnt as his mother. However, Gunter Bleck Die Deutsche bevolkerung in ... Zempelburg und Vandsburg 1750-1812 p. 48 has Martin's mother as Helene Remus. So I list only the certain records for children while assuming Martin's ancestors to be correct.

Eva Rosina Busse who married Johan David Remus of Gnielke is likely Martin's sister (although not shown on page 68 of DGB Band 23) and Johan David Remus is Helene's brother.

The family is originally from Obornik north of Posen.

Subject Re: Remus , Busse and Jahrmaerker

Hi Bill: Wow, thank you for all the info. I have just begun on the

Jahrmaerker family because I have been looking for them in the wrong place.

My great grandmother, Amalia married Johann Friedrich Gottlieb Gustav

Hoffmann, an educator (Lehrer) who lived in Sieroszewice, Posen. She got

married in Bromberg in 1841 (FHC film 245351). But it says she is from

Murowanietz. I couldn't find any info on the Jahrmaerker family in the

Bromberg area so I stretched out my search and a lucky try for me was

Mrotschen. On films 245485 and 245484 I found Carl and Rosa's children -- 2

sets of twins to bring it to a total of 12 children born from 1805 to 1823.

But I'm not to sure we are talking about the same Rosa even though the birth

would be approx correct. I ran across her death record in Exin, film 814595

and she is listed as a Rosalie Jahrmaerker - born Busse - and died at the

age of 78. So the dates seem to match up but the name seems to be Rosalie,

not Eva Rosina. I'm hoping they are one of the same person. I have ordered

marriage and death records from the Mrotschen area so hopefully I will find

more info. One thing doesn't make sense to me. You are saying that Eva

Rosina could be the daughter of Helena Busse (born Remus). Than that would

mean that Carl and Rosa would have her mother, Helena as a sponsor.

We'll keep in touch. Happy New Year too.

Diane

xi. AUGUST BUSSE, b. March 1802, Ostrowke, Mrotschen, Kreis Wirsitz28.

5. ANNA ROSINA4 BUSSE (JOHAN MARTIN3, DANIEL2, MARTIN1) was born 1744 in Kowanowo, Kreis Obornik? (see important note)29,30, and died December 01, 1833 in Gnielke, Kreis Wirsitz, West Prussia31. She married JOHAN DAVID REMUS Bef. 1776, son of LORENZ REMUS and MARIANNA WENSKI. He was born April 09, 1752 in Lukowo, Kreis Flatow, West Prussia32,33, and died December 30, 1804 in Likely Gnielke, Kreis Wirsitz, West Prussia (see note)34.

Notes for ANNA ROSINA BUSSE:

Rosina is probably the sister of Martin Busse shown on page 68 of DGB Band 23 (note only sons are shown here in this DGB entry). Martin was born in 1733 and had four wives, the fourth of which was Helena Remus; Helena was the sister of Johan David Remus the husband of Rosina. So clearly the Busse family was nearby in Mrotchen at the right time. And this marriage pattern - brothers and sisters of one family marrying into another - is not uncommon. The families were of equal status. The parents of Rosina and Martin were Johan Martin Busse (b 1699) and Anna Sonneburg.

Notes for JOHAN DAVID REMUS:

He inherited the family estate at Gnielke upon the death of his father.

More About JOHAN DAVID REMUS:

Occupation: 1785, magistrate, cammer-deputations35

Child of ANNA BUSSE and JOHAN REMUS is:

i. JOHANNA ELISABETH5 REMUS, b. April 1776, Likely Gnielke, Kreis Wirsitz, West Prussia (see note)36,37; d. February 19, 1808, Gnielke, Kreis Wirsitz, West Prussia38,39; m. JOHAN DAVID SCHLIEPER, July 12, 1796, Gumnowitz, Mrotschen, Kreis Wirsitz, West Prussia40; b. November 14, 1776, Gumnowitz, Kreis Bromberg, West Prussia41; d. January 25, 1812, Gumnowitz, Kreis Bromberg, West Prussia42.

Notes for JOHANNA ELISABETH REMUS:

The estate of Lorenz Christian Remus passed to his son Johan David and then to Johan David's daughter Johanna (apparently she was their only child). As she married Johan David Schlieper, the estate continued in the Schlieper family name.
