The 1772 Census of Schwente

Very fortunately for me, the Vandsburg Grundbuch on lds microfilm 491232 contains copies of the 1772 Census for the village of Schwente (actually conducted 17 March 1773) that you will see below. Following the standard census questions like who owns the village (question 3) and the village's religion (question 4), you will see a listing of all the members of the village. This first lists the name of the head of household, then 1 for the husband, then 1 for the wife (if alive). Then the number of male children over 12, the number of male children under 12, the number of female children over 12, the number of female children under 12, the number of male hired hands, and the number of female hired hands.

If you have not yet read the information about Schwente, you need to know it was actually two villages in one with one schultz each for the Poles and for the Germans (hence Remus and Wenski).
