Pogutky, Kreis Berent, West Prussia

Pogutky is a very pretty village straddling a stream near Schoneck. It contains a former Cistercian monastery dating back to 1238. In 1276 they moved to Pelpin but still retained ownership of the village. In 1750 they returned to the village.

The catholic parish church was originally built in 1715 and the Lutheran church built in 1899 (now abandoned).

My interest in this village is the presence of Jacob Remus in this village during the 1772 land census. His record appears twice but contains the same information:

Reymus, Jacob Pogutky Schoeneck Berent 18011053 6038 77 (2) 29

Reymus, Jacob Pogutky Schoeneck Berent 18011053 6036 821 372

The household contains two males over 12, one female over age 12 and one female under 12 years. There are four in household.

Jacob was the son of Christian Remus of Pinczyn; Christian arrived in the area no later than 1720. Here are details on Jacob's family:

1. JACOB2 REMUS (CHRISTIAN1) was born 03 Jun 1731 in Pisienica, Pinczyn, Kreis Preuss Stargard, West Prussia. He married MAGDELENA KORA 24 Nov 1751 in Kosmin, Pogutki, Kreis Berent, West Prussia. She was born Bef. 1737.

Children of JACOB REMUS and MAGDELENA KORA are:

i. ADALBERT3 REMUS, b. 06 Apr 1755, Pogutki, Kreis Berent, West Prussia.

ii. AMBROSIS REMUS, b. 06 Apr 1755, Pogutki, Kreis Berent, West Prussia.

iii. ANTONIUS REMUS, b. 13 Jun 1761, Pogutki, Kreis Berent, West Prussia.

iv. MARIANNE REMUS, b. 02 Jan 1763, Pogutki, Kreis Berent, West Prussia; m. ADALBERTUM LASKOWSKI, 1791, Pogutki, Kreis Berent, West Prussia; b. Bef. 1763.

v. ELISABETH REMUS, b. 08 Oct 1764, Pogutki, Kreis Berent, West Prussia.

Also Michael Remus of Kobyle would have attended these churches.
