Plazowo, Kreis Tuchel, West Prussia
(and Alt Dzuki, Kreis Tuchel, West Prussia)
Plazowo is a village between Tuchel and Gross Byslaw. Its church records are in Gross Byslaw. This village established at the end of 18th century in "pustkowie" - territory that was not inhabited. It was started by the mayor Ploza of Tuchola - thus the village name of Plazowo. Residents had to clear the land themselves under a long term lease. In 1806 there were 4 owners: Jan Szczegulski (a resident of Tuchola), Franciszek Frydrychowicz, Piotr Rakowski and Teodor Ograbiszewski, the last two were teachers. Later these lands were sold. In 1842 there were more families listed as owners of land in Plazowo, but name Remus is not among them. In 1865 there were 2188 morgs of land, and Friedrich Gottlieb Remus from Szumiaca (Alt Dzuki) just a kilometer south of Cekcyn as shown on the map below was one of bigger farmers with 52 morgs. This village is associated with four Remus families and still contains Remus family members.
Two
groups of Remus family members originate from Martin Remus of Schwente via his son Caspar Remus and his second
wife Anna Konopka; Caspar was the innkeeper (kruger) of Schmirdau. Caspar had many sons and his
seventh child with Anna, Johan Daniel Remus the shepherd,
is my great great grandfather. His son August Wilhelm
Remus was a cart maker who moved first to Volhynia and then onward to Manitoba,

Remus had a sister Rosa Emilie born in 1842. She may be Rosalie Remus born in 1842
to Johan the shepherd (perhaps Johan the shepherd and Daniel the shepherd were the same person named Johan Daniel Remus the shepherd);

Remus family members originate from Martin Remus of Schwente via
his son Caspar Remus and his second wife Anna Konopka;
Caspar was the innkeeper (kruger)
of Schmirdau. Caspar had many sons and his fourth child with Anna, Johan, is the
grandfather of Friedrich Gottlieb Remus mentioned above initially living in Alt
Dzuki and later becoming one of the biggest farmers

Marianne Wysocka and his family including Martin
Remus with his first wife Anne Steffer and second
wife Rosalie Ostrowska; this family migrated to
